Grievances Redressal Policy

The University has maintained an open and transparent mechanism to deal with students grievances at different levels.  During the admission process it is mandatory for each students to interact with the Dean of Students before his/her admission processes is completed.  Therefore, this opens a communication process between the student body and the Dean of Student Office. Incase students have grievances they also encouraged to interact with their respective Hostel Wardens, Deans, HOD’s, and Mentors who form a reporting channel for student grievances.

The University has undertaken various measures to assist students address their grievances.   These measures are listed below:

  1. Deans, HOD’s, faculty members and Staff are provided with access to report grievance cases that have been brought to them by students. The Dean of student’s office in case they came across or were reported to of harassment behavior by students.
  2. The following committee were constituted to prevent ragging and sexual harassment.
  3. Anti- Ragging Committee, which is chaired by the Vice- Chancellor with one representative each from the Civil Administration, Police, Media, NGO, Teaching Staff, Non-Teaching staff, Parent, Junior student, Senior Student.
  4. An Anti-Ragging Mentoring Cell has been constituted comprising of six students from each academic department who report directly to the University Student Welfare Officer and the Dean of Students.
  5. Anti-Ragging Squad has been constituted comprising of 24 senior students who report directly to the University Student Welfare Officer and the Dean of Students.
  6. Two University Grievance Redressal Committees (UGRC) have been constituted one specially dealing with staff and faculty Grievance and the other for student Grievances. The committee comprises of a Retired Principal District Judge, a legal advisor, and University Staff and Faculty members.
  7. And Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) – has been constituted which deals with cases of sexual harassment which comprises of a female presiding officer, a female counsellor, teaching and nonteaching employees and students of the University.
  8. The Student Disciplinary Committee has been constituted which deal with general student disciplinary issues.
  9. A campus counselling cell has been set up with a professional counsellor and assistant counsellor who operate between 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all working days.  This counselling cell has been set up in the University Student Centre where enough space has been provided for single and group counselling sessions. The counsellor reports directly to the dean of students.  The dean of students in consultation with the hostel wardens, academic deans, HOD’s, and mentors refer students who have grievances in various levels to the counsellor.
  10. Other than the offline grievance reporting procedures an online grievance reporting mechanism is available on the website for students, staff, faculty, administrators, and stake holders.
