Women’s Hostel Rules

HOSTEL ELIGIBILITY :

The hostel is maintained by Spicer  Adventist University for the benefit of its students. Only the full time students are eligible for admission. The student must pay full hostel fees before joining the hostel. Admission to the hostel is entirely  at the discretion of the university authorities. A satisfactory conduct, regular attendance and good performance in the  classes and examinations will be taken into consideration for re-admission to the hostel.  The student admitted to the hostel is subject to the rules and regulations laid down by the university authorities. Breach of these rules by the resident will involve disciplinary action including dismissal from the hostel and the university.

HOSTEL RULES

  1. The hostel is headed by the Hostel Warden, Assistant Wardens and General Monitors.
  2. General Monitors are appointed to assist the wardens and are in charge in the absence of the wardens. Authority is delegated to the General Monitor and the hostel residents must abide by their advice.
  3. A room is assigned to the resident only by the warden. Furthermore, the warden has the right to change the room of the resident at any time, if it is considered necessary.
  4. Every hostel residents must have a current Identity Card approved by the university authorities.
  5. Residents must show respect and due courtesy in dealing with fellow students, roommates and hostel staff.
  6. Sleeping together in one cot is not permitted.
  7. Playing loud music is not allowed. Residents must observe silence and not disturb others in the hostel.
  8. Silence should maintain after the lights are off at 10:30 pm. Talking on mobile phones is strictly discouraged after the lights are switched off.
  9. Playing secular music and doing laundry are strictly prohibited during the Sabbath hours, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.
  10. Cleanliness of the room and tidiness of the bed are the personal duties of all the roommates. Room checking will be conducted at random. Consistent negligence to keep the room clean will lead to disciplinary action by the administration.
  11. Cleanliness of the surroundings including common areas like bathrooms, toilets, corridors, hostel lawns is the responsibility of each and every hostel resident.
  12. The hostel residents must not enter other inmate’s room unnecessarily and must respect the privacy of the inmates. All forms of ragging, physical or verbal assaults are strictly forbidden and may warrant dismissal.
  13. Residents are discouraged from bringing valuable things such as computers, laptops, music players, etc, into the hostels as a precaution of loss.
  14. Boarders who have completed their studies or those who are planning to leave the University for vacation are required to vacate the hostel within 7 days from the day of expiry of the hostel registration.
  15. Boarders leaving the hostel must also take away their personal belongings from their respective rooms and lockers. If it is not done, the wardens have the right to remove all their belongings. Though these belongings will be kept in a safe custody, the wardens will not be held responsible for any damage or loss incurred.
  16. However, it is not the responsibility of the hostel and no form of compensation will be entertained by the warden. Such custody, however, will be only for a month but certainly not more than a semester.
  17. Except electric irons no other heating equipment is permitted to be used in the hostel. If anyone is found using any non-permitted electrical equipment, it will be confiscated immediately and a fine of Rs.500 (Rupees five hundred only) will be charged to the one using it as well as the owner. There will be absolutely no cooking in the rooms.
  18. The resident must ensure that the hostel facilities are not misused by any other resident or by non-residents.
  19. No resident shall invite or allow any guest to stay in the hostel without the permission HOSTEL ELIGIBILITY :

  20. Any student found stealing other people’s belongings or damaging university property in the hostel, or on the campus, like sticking posters, burning tables, embedding nails, wasting water and electricity will be subjected to disciplinary action.
  21. Smoking, chewing and spitting pan, tobacco and gutka, drinking alcohol, gambling , using any form of ‘Drugs’ and keeping harmful equipment are strictly prohibited. Anyone indulging in such activities shall be liable to disciplinary action. Residents are advised to practice Adventist healthy lifestyle.
  22. Every student seeking admission to the university (and the hostel) shall be required to sign the following declaration in the office of the Dean of Students and strictly abide by the rules:

“ I hereby agree, if admitted, that I will abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the University authorities for the good governance of the University. As long as I am a student of the university, I will do nothing either inside or outside the university that will break the rules made by the university authorities and I will represent the Institution in the best of my conduct.”

DRESS CODE :

  1. The ladies, especially the hostel resident, are expected to be careful the way they dress up. Extreme, immodest and extravagant dresses must be avoided. Wearing spaghetti straps, short skirts and tank tops that are revealing are not accepted to be worn outside the hostel.
  2. Ladies are not allowed to wear items of jewellery such as armlets, bangles, chains, earrings, necklaces, rings, etc. Tattoos, body paintings or piercing is strictly forbidden.

HEALTH :

  1. Any case of sickness must be promptly reported to the wardens and checked by the university nurse.
  2. Students should obtain Hospital authorisation from the Deputy Finance Officer if any case of hospitalization is required. However, the university will not be responsible for the cost of treatment and transportation.
  3. All residents have to do general work on every Sunday.

MEDICAL FACILITIES :

Medical personnel are available to the students in the university dispensary. In the case of emergency students should contact the hostel wardens or the monitors for getting medical help.

RECREATION AND OUT PASSES

  1. Social programes are only allowed with the permission of the wardens.
  2. Ladies’ outings will be only on Sundays with proper chaperonage.
  3. Weekend Out-Passses will be issued for valid reasons only once a month towards the end of the month.
  4. Ladies hostel residents are not allowed to visit any staff, faculty members or married students in their homes without prior and proper permission from the wardens.

STUDY HOUR

  1. The University students in the first and second year are required to attend their study hall in the study rooms assigned by the Study Monitor.
  2. The Study Monitor has the authority to report any misbehaviour and absences of the students to the Wardens or the General Monitors.
  3. Senior students (Third year,MA and MBA students) are allowed to study in the university library. However, the ladies are not expected to be accompanied by men after library hours.

DAILY / WEEKLY SCHEDULE

  1. Rising Bell : 5:30 a.m- Monday – Friday
  2. Morning Assembly : 6:30 a.m ~ Monday – Friday
  3. Breakfast :7:00-7:30 am~ Monday – Friday; 7:00 – 8:00 am ~ Saturday & Sunday
  4. Classes* : 7:10 am to 1:00 pm, Monday -Friday
  5. Lunch : 11:30 – 1:30 pm ~ Monday – Sunday
  6. Work Programme* : 9:00-12:00 noon & 02:00-05:00 pm Sunday; 02:00-05:00 pm, Monday -Friday
  7. Supper : 5:00 – 6:00 pm ~ Monday – Sunday
  8. Recreation timings end and all the residents must be inside the hostel by the following timings:6:40 pm ~ Sunday – Monday ; 4:00 pm~ Friday (No Outings except for prayer meetings permitted by the wardens on Sabbath afternoons.)
  9. Evening Assembly : 6:45 pm ~ Sunday – Thursday
  10. Study Hour : 7:30 – 9:30 pm (Study hall for 1st and 2nd Year students and Library Period for senior students) ~ Sunday- Thursday
  11. Assemblies : Chapel Period > 9:00 – 10:00 am ~ Tuesday & Thursday
    Mid- Week Prayer > 6:30 pm ~ Tuesday
  12. Night Attendance : 9:30 p.m ~ – Sunday – Saturday

* Timings may vary as per the student’s course of study and work plan.
